A good end to the year for business travel

After a year marked by the influence of the pandemic, mobility restrictions and the return to normality, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel, and one of the most optimistic sectors at the end of the year is business travel.

According to the latest survey by the Global Business Travel Association, October 2021, 62% of respondents confirm that their company already authorises non-core domestic business travel, and 28% expect to restart international routes in the next 3 months, with more than half of the companies surveyed predicting that they will resume international travel from 2022.

This optimism follows the recent opening of the US borders, the increase in vaccination rates, and the introduction of the COVID passport for leisure, culture, and transport.

Another study, in this case by World Travel & Tourism, indicates that the increase in business travel spending will increase by 34% in 2022 compared to 2020, recovering two-thirds of the pre-pandemic spending volume. Despite these figures, WWTC believes that this recovery will be regionalised and uneven, but it will have major implications for the global travel and tourism industry.

This data coupled with growing corporate bookings of both flights and hotels supports the idea of a recovery. What is certain is that most employees and companies are keen to get back to travel, face-to-face meetings, in-person contract closings, and in general to regain that closeness with their stakeholders.

Are we at the beginning of a great recovery or will the pandemic continue to generate a layer of insecurity that will delay the resurgence of business travel, which, on the other hand, seems inevitable?

Do you have a business trip in mind, or would you like to discuss the possibility of doing so by private flight?
